Card Catalog

Accessibility

Last updated October 19, 2026

Card Catalog is made by MC Labs California, LLC in Sacramento, California. We want every person to be able to save, find and cook their family's recipes, with a screen reader, a keyboard, a switch, a magnifier or a voice, and to get the same use out of Card Catalog as anyone else. We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the European standard EN 301 549. This page says what that means, how to get live help, and how to tell us when something is in your way.

Live help from Aira

Card Catalog works with Aira, a service that connects people who are blind or have low vision to a trained visual interpreter over a live video call. The interpreter sees what your camera sees and describes it, reads it, or guides you through it. With Card Catalog the call is free and open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in English and Spanish.

  1. Install the Aira app on your phone from the App Store or Google Play, or go to aira.io.
  2. Start a call and give the access code Card Catalog. The minutes are on us.
  3. Ask for help with anything in Card Catalog. Scanning a recipe card, reading a card back, checking the grocery list, following a step in Cook mode, or signing up.

Aira is a separate company. Its interpreters follow Aira's own privacy and confidentiality rules, which are at aira.io.

Tell us about a problem

If a page, a button or a message does not work for you, we want to know, and we want to fix it. Tell us which page or screen, what you were trying to do, and what you use to browse, such as VoiceOver on an iPhone or NVDA with Firefox.

Every report becomes a ticket with a code you can ask about. We answer you and tell you what we changed. If a feature is not usable for you yet, we will help you do the same thing another way in the meantime.

What is built in

How we keep it that way

An accessibility coordinator at MC Labs California, LLC is responsible for this statement and for every report. Reach them through support@cardcatalog.ai with Accessibility in the subject.

We check each change to Card Catalog with a keyboard and a screen reader before it ships. We review the whole product against WCAG 2.2 AA on a regular schedule and fix what we find in order of how much it blocks. New features are designed to the same standard from the start, not fixed after.

Recipes you save come from your own photos, books, websites and other apps. We read them into text so a screen reader can read them, and the red pencil marks what our reader may have misread so you can correct it. A page you follow to another website, such as a recipe's original source or a store's cart, is that site's own, and we cannot promise how accessible it is. Tell us if one gives you trouble and we will say so beside the link.

The type on the site and in the app is Inter, Tiempos Headline and Cedarville Cursive, chosen for legibility, and every size follows your settings.
